Lorin Shields-Michel has been a professional writer for nearly 20 years. Upon moving to Southern California following her graduation from the University of New Hampshire, Shields-Michel began her career as an advertising copywriter at the Los Angeles office of McCann-Erickson Worldwide working on such corporate and diverse clients as Coca Cola and Lockheed Aerospace. She also worked briefly in entertainment publicity before making the move to client side, becoming the senior writer for Sebastian International, the hair care and cosmetics giant.
Ms. Michel also worked briefly for the Los Angeles Times before embarking on a freelance writing career where she quickly made a name for herself writing for many major manufacturers including John Paul Mitchell Systems, Mattel, Jakks Pacific Toys, Interlink Electronics, and various other professional beauty organizations.
Her freelance career also expanded into the health industry where she created award-winning advertising and recruitment campaigns for several Southern California hospitals including numerous Dignity Health hospitals, Saint John’s Health Center in California, and Montefiore in New York. She has also written numerous magazine articles on topics including natural remedies for cholesterol, how to avoid heart problems, diabetes, breast cancer and multi-organ transplantation.
She has been involved in numerous book projects, writing a popular memoir for the esteemed hairdresser Allen Edwards, as well as serving as editor for a medical book on Pituitary Disorders and The Hormone Factor, a journey into mental health issues associated with hormone imbalances. In addition, she has authored several chapters in books on topics ranging from the history of the pituitary gland to inflammation to the power of omega 3 and omega 6 amino acids, and more.
Shields-Michel develops concepts and packaging copy; writes advertising copy; writes and produces radio commercials; researches and writes advertorials, and web site content and blogs; writes and edits articles and books.
Ms. Shields-Michel earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, Creative Writing. She is affiliated with several writing organizations in both Southern California and Southern Arizona.
